The Lighthouse Point Yacht & Racquet Club
is now holding classes for kids from 10 months old to 2 ½ years old and
run by Fitness Coach Larry Blomberg. As 10:30 am approached, the pool area
began to fill with moms and eager, wide-eyed kids.
"We try to get the kids to be comfortable in the water. Kids at this age
aren't able to be totally water-safe yet. We educate the parents about
staying vigilant around the water, as well. Also we try to educate the
kids about their behavior around other peoples' pools," said Larry.
This day the program was concerned with the use of toys in the pool area.
"We tell the parents to keep the toys out of the water when the kids are
not in the pool, so that a toddler won't be attracted to the toy that may
be in the middle of the pool," stressed Larry. "We tell the child never to
go in a pool without mom or dad," he added. Good advice!
There are many activities at the pool and the Yacht Club for members and
non-members.
